Phoenixville Free Clinic proudly presented the 2025 Health Equity Volunteer Award to long-time volunteers Dave and Karen Winning, honoring their extraordinary dedication and impact on advancing compassionate, dignified healthcare for all.

Dave has volunteered with the clinic for over 16 years, and four years ago, Karen joined him — forming what many lovingly call the clinic’s "dynamic duo." Together, they played a pivotal role in one of the clinic’s most significant operational improvements: the transition from paper records to a comprehensive Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
Their countless hours of learning, troubleshooting, and converting data have improved not only how the clinic delivers care, but also how outcomes are tracked, and information is securely shared. Their work has strengthened the foundation of the clinic’s ability to grow and adapt to the changing needs of the uninsured and underserved in the region.
In accepting the award, Dave expressed that he and Karen are filled with great gratitude and thanks for the sponsors and donors who have supported the clinic’s mission, making this work possible.
“Dave and Karen exemplify what it means to serve with heart,” said Volunteer Director Sheila Rossi. “They show up with patience, humor, and unwavering commitment. From mentoring new volunteers to bringing in homemade treats and Penn State ice cream, they remind us every day that compassion and community are at the core of everything we do.”
The Phoenixville Free Clinic extends its deepest appreciation to Dave and Karen Winning for their ongoing commitment — and to all the donors and supporters who make this essential work possible.
