Information on Elmwood Park Zoo:
Elmwood Park Zoo was established in 1924 when a local farmer transferred 16 acres and a small menagerie to the Borough of Norristown. Today, the zoo is owned and operated by the Norristown Zoological Society. Under the Society’s careful management, Elmwood Park Zoo has attained the elite status as one of only 230 institutions accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Animal Meet and Greet: We will have a special visit from one of the following three animals: - Porcupine, Cockatoo or Armadillo.

Giraffe Feedings: Come face-to-face with the world’s tallest mammal when you hand feed our giant giraffes!

Welcome Center: Opened in 2024, the state-of-the-art Welcome Center and Veterinary Health Center offers a unique opportunity to explore both indoor and outdoor spaces dedicated to wildlife education and conservation. As you enter the zoo, you’ll discover how zoos play a vital role in protecting and caring for animals. This cutting-edge facility enables Elmwood Park Zoo to care for a diverse range of species while giving you an exclusive glimpse into the daily work of our veterinary team.
