A Second Chance at Health and Hope

When Lindsay lost her job and health insurance, she found herself unable to afford the medication she relied on to manage her ADHD. "I couldn't afford it anymore and I hated to switch back to one that did not help me," she recalls. Struggling to cope without proper treatment, Lindsey learned about Phoenixville Free Clinic (PFC) from a local advocate.

At PFC, Lindsay met with the Medical Director, who took over her care. The staff worked diligently to help her get back on the medication that had been working well for her. "They just completely took over here and just know what to do and how to talk me through the struggles I was facing and could get me back on what worked for me," Lindsay says.

The impact was significant. "All my friends say ‘Wow, we can notice such a difference,'" Lindsay shares. She emphasizes how crucial this support has been: "I probably wouldn't be able to hold a job" without proper medication management. Through a grant, PFC has been able to cover the cost of the correct medication which helps her move forward and function.  Lindsay is grateful for PFC’s efficient and caring service. "I feel cared for. I feel that they see me," she says.

Beyond medication, PFC also provided Lindsay with comprehensive care including necessary tests like an EKG and blood work, which she had never received before. The staff's compassionate approach stood out to her. "I came in here with such anxiety and I was so scared, and the nurses just kept me so calm," she remembers.

For Lindsay, PFC has been a lifeline during a challenging time. As she continues to substitute teach and search for a job with benefits, she knows she can count on PFC for her healthcare needs. "They just take really good care of me," Lindsay concludes
